Supporting Communities & Conservation

We believe in travel that not only showcases the beauty of extraordinary destinations but also uplifts local communities and ensures the preservation of incredible natural and historic sites for future generations. As a locally operated company, creating positive, lasting impacts is at the heart of everything we do. Through fair partnerships, respecting local customs, reducing waste, and committing to carbon offsetting and community-driven projects, we strive to support sustainable tourism in every aspect of our work.

By traveling with us, you’re contributing to the protection of these remarkable places and the empowerment of the communities who steward them. Together, we can travel with purpose and leave a meaningful legacy.

Partnership with the Willoq Community

For over a decade, we have proudly partnered with the Willoq Community as porters for our treks. This partnership is built on mutual respect and a strong, lasting relationship. The Willoq people are an Andean community that maintain traditional ways of life. Many only speak the indigenous language of Quechua, though younger generations are adopting Spanish, and their vibrant, handwoven clothing carries deep cultural significance.

While living traditionally brings beauty and resilience, it also comes with challenges, such as limited access to resources and funds. To support our porters, we are dedicated to providing fair wages, comprehensive insurance, community support, and emergency funds in case of injury or illness. Each year, we visit the community to donate school uniforms, seeds, groceries, and school supplies. As well, we provide training and educational opportunities to support their professional and personal development. During Christmas, we host a community celebration with hot chocolate and toys for the children. The Willoq porters are an integral part of our team, and we deeply value their expertise and contribution.

Carbon Neutrality

We are proudly certified by Green Initiative as a carbon-neutral company. This means all of our tours, treks, and operations are fully offset through reforestation efforts in key regions of Peru.

One of our focus areas is the magnificent Madre de Dios region in the southern Amazon, a renowned biodiversity hotspot home to over a thousand species of butterflies and birds, as well as iconic animals like jaguars, monkeys, and anteaters. The other focus area is in the district of Machu Picchu, which has faced challenges such as forest fires, deforestation, and water loss. This area is home to incredible species like the Andean bear and puma. Reforestation efforts here aim to restore aquifers, combat habitat loss, and protect biodiversity. Our partnership also supports clean and renewable energy and technological solutions to reduce the amount of greenhouse gas emissions.

Our goal is to not only offset carbon emissions but also contribute to the long-term conservation of these extraordinary ecosystems.

Protecting Cultural and Natural Wonders for Future Generations

Every year, we participate in the annual cleaning of the Inca Trail as part of our commitment to respecting and preserving its extraordinary cultural and natural significance. We take great pride in contributing to the conservation of this iconic path and ensuring it remains pristine for future generations.

Additionally, we actively support the Machu Picchu City Hall’s ambitious initiative to reforest one million native trees within the Machu Picchu Natural Protected Area. This effort is vital in restoring the region’s ecosystem and protecting its unique biodiversity.

Community-Centered Eco-Conscious Travel

By prioritizing local accommodations, dining, and artisans, our tours directly boost the local economy, fostering sustainable opportunities for communities in tourism-dependent regions.. Additionally, we adhere to environmental guidelines, such as staying on designated paths and respecting wildlife, to protect the natural ecosystems that make these destinations so extraordinary.
